Sarah Fischer-Reynolds, CSCS, Pn1

Wellness & Lifestyle Coach

Straightforward and understanding, with a penchance for saying just the thing you needed to hear, Coach Sarah will be leading the charge at AKOS Nutrition, a division of Functional Effect. Formerly the head of our training & programming department, Sarah now uses her diverse background in fitness and her degree in psychology to effectively guide our nutrition coaching programs as well as spearhead the weekly education within the Facebook group. She believes in a realistic approach and building a strong foundation from which to build off of. You will quickly see that Sarah will challenge you to step outside of your comfort zone and into your power!

Dr. Tyler Reynolds

Rehabilitation Specialist

Co-founder of Functional Effect Fitness Tyler Reynolds has always had a strong desire to help others achieve optimal health and wellness, getting his start in the fitness industry working with clients with cognitive and physical limitations. In addition to attaining his Doctorate of Chiropractic from National University of Health Sciences, Tyler has completed over 250+ hours of post-graduate studies in Functional Rehabilitation with specialties in shoulder dysfunction and The McKenzie Method (MDT) in addition to being certified in the Selective Functional Movement Assessment. Dr. Reynolds number one goal is to eliminate pain and maximize function in each client he works with.

Andrew Kouba, CSCS FMS

Head Fitness Coach

Starting out as a Strength Coach and later as a Personal Trainer, Functional Effect Head Coach Andrew Kouba now leads our training and programming department. Coach Andrew has successfully worked alongside a wide variety of clientele and has spent 10+ years in the fitness industry, getting his start at the Bulls Sox Academy while he earned his Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science from North Central College. Post-grad, Coach Andrew obtained his certification as a Functional Movement Screen Specialist as well as his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Rehabilitation Programs

Dr. Reynolds uses a variety of modalities to treat conditions of the spine and the extremities, with the number one goal being to get the patient out of pain as quickly as possible. Removal of pain will lead to improvement of function and Dr. Reynolds has a proven track record of helping his patients get back to doing what they love.

The first visit with Dr. Reynolds is 1 hour and each follow-up visit is 30 minutes.  Your entire appointment time is spent face-to-face with Dr. Reynolds, as opposed to being spent with assistants or hooked up to various machines. Dr. Reynolds uses a variety of modalities to treat his patients including chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture/dry needling, cupping, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization and therapeutic exercise. Each visit and treatment protocol is individually tailored to each patient.  Your visit to Dr. Reynolds’ office will truly be unlike anything you have ever experienced before.

Some of the most asked questions at Functional Effect.

When will I see results?
Although each client is different, we find that FE/AKOS clients achieve noticeable changes as soon as they start diligently and consistently applying the tools we provide them. Since each client's approach is unique, the biggest common factor at play is your willingness to change your behavior and start do something different.
Will I have a dedicated personal coach?
Each Functional Effect member will be assigned to one of our world-class team members as their Accountability Coach. Your Coach will regularly check-in with you and make sure you are staying on track. Although you will have an assigned accountability coach, you will have the opportunity to work with all of our super-coaches when scheduling your in-person training sessions.
What if I have pain when I workout?
One of the biggest goals of our programming at Functional Effect is to eliminate pain. Starting with your assessment, our team will be building you a custom program which takes your injury history and pain into consideration. When building your program we will assign exercises which safely and effectively strengthen your body and decrease your risk of pain or future injury.
How often do I need to workout?
The answer to this question depends on YOU! At Functional Effect we feel that the best program is the one you can stick to. In general, we recommend getting 30 minutes of active time each day and 4 workouts per week.
Do I need to change the way I eat to see results?
Yes and YES! Nutrition is the foundation of any physical transformation, and you simply can't out-exercise a bad diet. Our clients achieve amazing results by applying the basic principles you will find within our Foundations of Wellness Course or by working 1-on-1 with Coach Sarah.
Once I get great results, can I stop working out and eating healthy?
Although it would be great, you aren't going to be able to keep your results if you simply return to your former habits. Results require daily, continual reactivation of those newfound behaviors. Because of this, we choose to teach our clients realistic and sustainable practices that they can maintain for a lifetime.
