“I’m too busy to work out”, “my schedule is too chaotic/abnormal”, “I do not have the time”.
I’m sure these statements ring true to many that read this. As a nurse practitioner in one of the busiest level one trauma centers in the country, these statements are something that not only I said myself, but I commonly hear amongst my peers. Healthcare professionals are notorious for poor self care including sleep hygiene, diet and exercise/movement. How can we as health care providers care for patients to the best of our ability when we don’t care for ourselves?
I cannot thank or say enough good things about Sarah Fischer Reynolds and the Functional Effect family. Sarah and their entire team always take a holistic approach when working with clients. When Sarah sat down with me and asked me what my goals were for my health it was all encompassing including my physical activity, diet and overall wellness. She really drives home the importance of the basics of sleep, movement, nutrition, hydration and mental wellness. Also when designing my program she took into account my actual level of stress I’m under daily at my job, time constraints, etc. instead of throwing a blanket program at me which could be even more harmful.
I can truly say with the help of Sarah and the Function Effect family I am bettering myself as a human being which makes me better for all of those around me including my spouse, family, friends, colleagues and patients. My experience with this team has always been one of support, encouragement but also holding accountability. Thank you Sarah and team! You are changing lives daily!
